The Kohler K181 is a 305 cc, (18.6 cu·in) natural aspirated single-cylinder four-stroke air-cooled internal combustion small gasoline engine with a horizontal shaft, manufactured by Kohle Co., for general-purpose applications.
A 74.62 mm (2.94 in) cylinder bore and 69.85 mm (2.75 in) piston stroke give the K181 engine a total of 305 cc of displacement. The K181 engine produced 8.2 PS (6.0 kW; 8.0 HP) at 3,600 rpm of maximum horsepower.
The Kohler K181 features:
- L-head (side valve) design
- Magneto ignition system, battery ignition system, breakerless ignition system ignition system*
- Carburetor (Kohler or Walbro – fixed main jet or adjustable main jet)*
- Centrifugal governor
- Splash type lubrication system
- Forced air cooling system
- Retractable or electric starter
