The Hatz 1B20 is a 0.2 L (243 cc, 14.83 cu·in) natural aspirated single-cylinder four-stroke air-cooled internal combustion small diesel engine with a horizontal shaft, manufactured by Motorenfabrik Hatz GmbH & Co. KG for general-purpose applications.
The Hatz 1B20 engine has a single-cylinder, light-alloy cylinder head, forged crankshaft, valve timing via rocker arm, pushrods, finger-follower, and camshaft. The Hatz 1B20 engine can be equipped with a recoil or electric starter (12V or 24V) and alternator (14V – 14A at 3,000 rpm; 7A at 1,500 rpm or 28V – 7A at 3,000 rpm or 4A at 1,500 rpm). The engine used pressurized lubrication with a fine filter in the main flow. The 1B20 is equipped with a 3.0 L (0.79 US. gal. 0.66 Imp. gal.) fuel tank.
This diesel engine produced from 2.2 PS (1.6 kW; 2.1 HP) at 1,500 rpm to 4.8 PS (3.5 kW; 4.7 HP) at 3,600 rpm of horsepower (DIN ISO 1585) and 10.5 N·m (1.1 kg·m, 7.7 ft·lb) at 2,500 rpm of peak torque.

Service Data
The API – CF / CH-4, ACEA – B3 / E4 oil with a viscosity of SAE 5W-30, 10W-30 is recommended for the 1B20, refilling oil capacity is 0.9 L (0.95 US. qt, 0.79 Imp. qt.). The valve clearance is 0.20 mm (0.008 in) for intake valves and 0.20 mm (0.008 in) for exhaust valves.
