The John Deere 140 is a garden tractor model from the 100 series, manufactured from 1968 to 1974 by John Deere in Horicon, Wisconsin, USA. It was available in a two-wheel drive (2WD) version.
The John Deere 140 is equipped with one of two engines: a 476 сс (29.0 cu·in) single-cylinder gasoline engine with 85.7 mm (3.37 in) of the cylinder bore and 82.6 mm (3.25 in) of the piston stroke, or a 512 сс (31.2 cu·in) single-cylinder gasoline engine with 88.9 mm (3.5 in) of the cylinder bore and 82.6 mm (3.25 in) of the piston stroke, and a shaft-driven hydrostatic transmission with infinite forward and reverse gears.
